Tropical Acres Farms is a family-owned and operated farm that specializes in growing mangos. The farm was founded in July of 2011 by Alex Salazar, who has a long-time passion for mangos. In 2012, they partnered with the Sturrock family to grow their mangos on their historic property in West Palm Beach. Today, all production is moved to this location.
The Sturrock family immigrated from Scotland and developed the land the farm now sits on in 1919. David Sturrock, an accomplished horticulturalist, was employed by helping landscape the historic Vizcaya estate in Miami. His son Tom and his family also lived on the property. Tom was a botanist and professor for Florida Atlantic University. Both David and Tom Sturrock made enormous historical contributions to the mango in Florida.
